Beat Cartel began in 2001 by two brothers E-NYS and JOB, who took their love for Hip Hop; the music and the culture, to produce beats.
Beat Cartel’s sound is versatile, incorporating the styles of old school hip hop, while adding a new school flavor to their hypnotic beats.
Both E-NYS and JOB live Hip Hop and want to bring the music back to its roots. They believe that the origins of Hip Hop were to deliver a message, and some wherealong the way the message was lost.
E-NYS first heard Hip Hop in Queens, when he witnessed some B-Boys breakin’ to rap music on a street corner. He was immediately captivated and his curiosity of what he witnessed turned in to an obsession for all things Hip Hop. JOB being the younger brother was affected by ENYS’ new found addiction. JOB would steal his brother’s cassette tapes, and started watching films like Breakin’ and Beatstreet. JOB was also deeply immersed in the graffiti scene and he blended his visual art with his new found passion of the Hip Hop culture.
E-NYS took his love for the music and became a self-taught DJ, mixing hits at both underground and mainstream clubs all over New York.He now resides in Los Angeles, where he has perfected his beat making skills and mixed his New York roots with a West Coast sound.
JOB dove deeper into his love of music by attending Five Towns College in New York for Audio Engineering where he received a Bachelors of Professional Studies. While inschool, he interned at Mirror Image Recorders in NYC. He was head engineer for Grammy Award winning producer Rockwilder and now is head engineer for Redman. He has recorded artists such as Redman, Method Man, Raekwon, M.O.P., Keith Murray,Erick Sermon, DJ Twins, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Jimmy Cozier, Styles P, Rockwilder,Icadon, and Nate Dogg; just to name a few.
Both brothers have put together their skills, knowledge, influences, and love of the Hip Hop culture to produce the most potent and addictive drug to hit the streets, MUSIC.
