Vocalist and co-writer Jessie Coutts spent her childhood singing to the winds of New Zealands' rugged Southland coast. Inspired by a family of musicians, she has followed her muse around the world. Her writing style is personal, full of imagery and is carried by her soothing, floating melodies.

Guitarist and co-writer Mathurin Molgat has an angular take on his world and his songs are vignettes of a vagabond soul. His influences range from Jaques Brel to Caetano Veloso and back to Beaudelaire.

jessie coutts - vocals

Jessie was born into music in the far south of New Zealand's South Island and has sung and played guitar all of her life. She toured America with her band Three of a Tribe, recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis,Tennessee, held a residency at the Venice Bistro in Los Angeles and has featured on television many times. Her songwriting is full of imagery and delicate meanderings. She was featured at the APRA Silver Scroll Awards and was showcase artist at the prestigious NXNE Music Festival in Toronto, Canada.

mathurin molgat - guitar

Mathurin spent his youth leaping off mountains and roaming the globe. He fell into music and continues to wander through it in a daze. His songs are often dark and he seems to prefer odd meters. It is a good thing he doesn't sing. He comes from a very cool family who are musically inept but politically astute.

The soundscapes of the South Pacific, mellow and smooth without haste. Formed in Queenstown, New Zealand between a guitar player who sings like a crocodile and a beautiful songstress who was in search of a guitar boy. Beach have toured all over the globe and tend to frequent warm relaxing places. The rest of the band was formed by chance meetings and good luck. The first beach album is achieving great critical success but so far has not reached the commercial success of Coca Cola.
