ASHLEY KING is embodying her fresh new reigning sound; the very soul of her upcoming EP// The Trip Hop Soul meets Dustep beats set the stage for the artist’s amazing vocals and inspiring lyrics- what is it all about? Upmost positivity and enlightenment realized by those who wish to be blissfully free or “birds”, as she calls them.
Two tracks have leaked from the EP, “Dream” and “Revolution”, and a launch date of Fall 2013: a culmination of Ashley King’s talents are brought to light in this new undertaking.
Flashback a few years back to when in a pure state of Nirvana, the signer envisioned (while staring at a pair of goldfish) the next step to her journey- Buddhafish Label- the pairing of two great creative minds leading to the release of her debut album, “Waiting for the Future”, as well as her 2nd album, “Love Revolution”. Ms. King has been vividly described as a young Sade mixed with a rebellious Sinead O’Connor, while partying on the Isle of Ibiza. Her delightful presence and complete dedication to her art allows her to deliver an unrivaled performance, and this at each and every occasion. Most recently performing at KA Magazine’s Soul Collective event series as well as their illustrious Grand Prix Party at Peopl. in the Old Port of Montreal and in venues as distinct as Club Soda and the 5-star St-James Hotel in Montreal, from crowds of 100 to 3000, Ashley King’s range is quite remarkable.
The heights Ms. King has reached would not have been possible without a series of occurrences and opportunities that have molded her into the person, and artist, she is today. Born in Toronto and raised in Montreal, Ashley did what most teens her age didn’t do: she joined the choir. But unlike most of her choir mates, the young King would spend her off time listening to the likes of Billie Holiday, Lauryn Hill and Tupac, while singing “His eyes are on the Sparrow”. Fast-forward to a chance encounter with the designer of Canadian fashion house NEVIK, Ashley landed an assistant designer job right out of college and you think we have a fairytale story. But Ms. King’s story doesn’t end there; add to the mix working on the production of Fashion Weeks for 700 plus guests and media and becoming the house model for the label.
Now in 2013, the 27 year-old King not only has fashion and modeling under her belt, but with the release multiple issues of the Award Winning KA Magazine, she has the added role of Art Director. KA Magazine, distributed both the USA and Canada is the winner of the Gutenberg Gold award for design and print excellence. But most of all, music is Ashley King’s first love, inspiration for all her other ambitious undertakings and the fuel to her vehicle on the road to bringing positivity and light to the world with step 1: THE DREAM - Fall 2013.
