One of the first bands signed to the Moody Blues-run Threshold imprint, English progressive rockers Asgard belied the grandeur of their chosen name by producing relatively brief and uncomplicated material, when compared to the numerous, truly adventurous bands that characterized prog rock's golden era.
In fact, Ted Bartlett (vocals), James Smith (vocals), Rodney Harrison (guitar, vocals, ex-Please and Bulldog Breed), Dave Cook (bass), Peter Orgil (violin), and Ian Snow (drums) managed just a four-song 45 and eight-song album, loquaciously entitled In the Realm of Asgard -- both issued in 1972 -- before fading from memory, although Smith and Snow also made a small dent with Stonehouse. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia
