Another new cover from Moz

Morrissey has shared his new single ‘Wedding Bell Blues’, featuring Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. Check it out below.

The track is taken from the former Smiths frontman’s upcoming album ‘California Son‘ – a record of covers of songs by Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Dionne Warwick and many more featuring guest appearances from Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear, Broken Social Scene member Ariel Engle, as well as Petra Haden, Sameer Gadhia of Young the Giant and LP.

Following on from the cover of Roy Orbison’s ‘It’s Over‘, the latest offering from the new album sees Moz team up with Armstrong for a cover of ‘Wedding Bell Blues’ by Laura Nyro, made famous by R&B group 5th Dimension in 1969.

The song will be released as a limited edition yellow 7″ vinyl single, backed by the B-side of new Morrissey original ‘Brow Of My Beloved’.

‘California Son’ will be released on May 24.

Meanwhile, the singer recently announced an “intimate” Broadway residency which will see him play a set of New York City gigs ahead of the album’s release.

Set to take place exclusively at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater, the residency will see Morrissey deliver “an intimate yet exciting exploration of Morrissey’s expansive career from his early days to his upcoming new record.”
