A “great evil” descends upon The Descendants in the new trailer for Disney Channel’s Descendants 3.
On Friday, Good Morning America dropped the sneak peek at the latest installment to the saga of Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson), Carlos (Cameron Boyce), and Jay (Booboo Stewart). The daughters and sons of classic Disney villains are witnessing a sleep spell rolling across the kingdom of Auradon and their only hope may lie with a new baddie coming for the TV film series.
Cheyenne Jackson’s Hades is one of the new additions in Descendants 3 and his “ember” may be the key to stopping the chaos. Once Mal, daughter of Sleeping Beauty‘s Maleficent, gets that ember, “it’s game over.”
The trailer also sees China Anne McClain as Ursula’s daughter Uma and Jadah Marie as Celia, daughter of The Princess and the Frog‘s Dr. Facilier (Jamal Sims) and the new VK kid.
Per the official synopsis for Descendants 3, “Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay return to the Isle of the Lost to recruit a new batch of villainous offspring to join them at Auradon Prep. When a barrier breach jeopardizes the safety of Auradon during their departure off the Isle, Mal resolves to permanently close the barrier, fearing that nemeses Uma and Hades will wreak vengeance on the kingdom. Despite her decision, an unfathomable dark force threatens the people of Auradon, and it’s up to Mal and the VKs to save everyone in their most epic battle yet.”
“Descendants 3 will be the biggest in scope of all the previous movies,” director Kenny Ortega told EW. “Everything has been scaled to deliver an epic story. The characters, the sets, the costumes, the dance numbers are all bigger, better and the baddest!”
The Disney Channel original movie premieres this summer.
