Aside from its depiction of dogs using kitchen appliances as massage tools and rabbits attempting to eat electric toothbrushes,
the new Secret Life of Pets 2 trailer makes the case that our four-legged friends are just like us. Well, sort of.
The new clip (above) continues the plot from the first film, as the adorable Jack Russell Terrier, Max (Patton Oswalt), faces empty nest anxieties as his owner’s child prepares to enter preschool. The journey to protect the youngster takes him from city streets to country landscapes, while his furry friends (including Kevin Hart’s superhero bunny, Snowball) make mischief on their own (tussling with monkeys, jamming to hip-hop) while their owners are out of the house.
Also returning for the sequel to the 2016 animated blockbuster — which grossed $875 million worldwide — are Modern Family‘s Eric Stonestreet, Jenny Slate, and Lake Bell, while new cast members include Harrison Ford as a farm-dwelling dog and Tiffany Haddish as a no-nonsense Shih Tzu.
