"It’s time for me to pursue other current and future projects."

Marilyn Manson‘s drummer Gil Sharone has confirmed that he’s stopped working with the shock-rock icon after five years.

The drummer, who featured on 2015’s ‘The Pale Emperor’ and its 2017 follow-up ‘Heaven Upside Down’, announced his departure in an upbeat Facebook post.

“After five amazing years playing drums for @marilynmanson, I’ve decided to leave the band,” Sharone wrote.

“It’s been one of the highlights of my career but it’s time for me to pursue other current and future projects. Much love to @marilynmanson and the homies I shared the stage with; @jeordie @tylerbatesofficial @paulwileymm @j_alderete and to the fans. It’s been a blast.”

While Sharone has both recorded and toured with Manson since 2014. He is also a member of Team Sleep with Deftones’ Chino Moreno and features in the supergroup Saudade, which also includes Moreno, along with members from Crosses, Bad Brains and Medeski Martin & Wood.

His departure comes after Manson confirmed that he’s about to finish his eleventh studio album, although it’s unclear if Sharone features on the record.

Revealing the news in an Instagram post, Manson wrote: “On my way to @shooterjennings to finish my new album.”

Manson recently celebrated his 50th birthday, which saw him host a party at Madame Siam in Los Angeles. Guests included the likes of Courtney LoveYeah Yeah Yeahs‘ Karen O, KoRn’s Jonathan Davis, singer and Youtube sensation Poppy, and Yoshiki of X Japan.
