Introducing Carol Danvers...
The first trailer for Captain Marvel has been released – and it’s already looking like the biggest movie of 2019.
In the clip, we’re given our first look at Academy Award-winner Brie Larson as Captain Marvel — the alter ego of U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers.
Set decades before The Avengers first assembled, the film follows Danvers as she finds herself in the middle of a massive intergalactic conflict in the 1990s.
The trailer sees Danvers falling to Earth, before a brief glimpse of her first meeting with Nick Fury, played once again by Samuel L Jackson.
We also see Jude Law making his MCU debut as Mar-Vell, Danver’s ever-trusty mentor.
An official synopsis teases: “The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
It’s also expected that she’ll appear in Avengers 4, after Nick Fury was seen calling for her support during a post-credits sequence.
“She is more powerful than any character we’ve introduced thus far,” Marvel boss Kevin Feige previously claimed.
“So that alone tells you that there’s a reason Nick hit that button at the end, when he realized that they were up against something far bigger than they had ever been up against before.”
Captain Marvel will be released on March 8, 2019.
