To launch their hotly-anticipated new album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino‘, Arctic Monkeys have announced details of a one-off mini film festival.

While this week will also see the band celebrate their new record with pop-up shops in cities around the world, fans down under at their Sydney branch this weekend will get the chance to watch five of the band’s favourite films at the Golden Age Cinema and Bar:

Friday
6:00pm: Le Cercle Rouge– Directed by Jean-Pierre Mellville
9:00pm: The Conversation – Directed by Francis Ford Coppola 

Saturday
2:00pm: L’eclisse – Directed by Michelangelo Antonioni
5:00pm: The Last Waltz – Directed by Martin Scorsese
7:30pm: Inherent Vice – Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson

Guitarist Jamie Cook recently revealed his reaction to first hearing Alex Turner’s initial demos for ‘Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino’. Speaking to Rolling Stone, he said: “I was blown away by the direction Alex had gone in. 

“It took a few listens to even begin to, like… It was just, like, ‘Shit. What do we do with this?”
