It's looking good...
The first online reactions to Deadpool 2 have started to trickle out, and it seems that the superhero sequel is about to receive a whole lot of love.
The sequel, which is released next week, sees Ryan Reynolds returning in the title role as he does battle against fellow mercenary Cable (played by Josh Brolin).
But while reviews are strictly embargoed until next week, the early reactions are looking very positive.
“I didn’t like the first Deadpool. Deadpool 2 beat me into submission until I was actually enjoying myself,” said Uproxx’s Mike Ryan.
“Also it features my now favorite post credit scene.”
Brian Truitt added: “I didn’t absolutely love the first Deadpool, but man, Deadpool 2 does the trick for me. Hilarious when it needs to be, surprisingly touching when it needs be (not in that way, gross), and is kinda the best X-Men-universe flick in forever. Also: DOMINO RULEZ.”
There was also praise for the new-found emotional depth of the sequel.
“Oh man, Deadpool 2 is really good fun. All the hilarity and self-awareness of the first film but it also manages to be quite subversive and weirdly sweet. Thoroughly enjoyed myself (also you’re gonna wanna stick around for those post-credits)”, Sammy Paul wrote.
