True grit shines through on "Carolina Cries," the newest single from Kyle T. Hurley’s upcoming record KTH II. The bluesy barroom rocker tells the tale of a gal trying to keep going despite being down on her luck. While it begins as a rollicking blues tune, it spirals into a frenzied climax of woozy guitar riffs and Hurley’s emphatic vocals.

"It's a song about someone with a chaotic life," says Hurley to Myspace. "They have a lot of problems they try to solve but life just keeps knocking them down, and they turn to their music to feel good. I came up with the main riff while moving around an E major chord."

"When we were recording it, my drummer Alessandro Cinelli used about four or five different drum tracks to create a lot of noise in the background which I liked because it made the song musically more chaotic. Robin Banerjee, Amy [Winehouse]'s guitarist, and Davide Mazzantini, my other guitarist came up with some chaotic guitar sounds to go along with the theme of the song. Enzo Strano, my bassist, did some cool fade in bass parts that help carry the verse to the chorus. These musicians, overall, helped make the music to the song chaotic. The song is chaos and is about chaos."
