Starting out with the strum of a guitar, "Eye of the Needle" quickly evolves into an electronic gem of a ballad, guided by singer Grace Park's delicate voice. The song morphs further still, building into a thumping beat and featuring a rapid rap-like cadence before strings emerge to close it out. It's a folk lullaby brought to life by Park and producer Scotty Trimble aka Sixo. In the lyrics, Park explores the themes of death and solace. "Written after the death of a close mutual friend, the lyrics to 'Eye of The Needle' seek to find hope in passage. No one is meant to live forever, because to do so is to endure the pains of many lifetimes — more than I think we humans are equipped to handle," says Park of the song's meaning.

As Trimble describes it, their entire collaboration was sparked by that mutual loss. "In 2013 Stephanie Bledsoe passed away after a tragic accident. Grace and my wife were both Stephanie's best friends." As a fan of Park's former band the Blue Hit, Trimble asked her to be on the album. "It's a deeply personal and important collaboration for me to have on this album."

Trimble, who describes his music as a "melodic, dark, emotional intersection of hip hop, folk and psych" is gearing up to release his new album The Odds of Free Will on April 21 via Fake Four Inc. Listen to "Eye of the Needle" below.
