New EP 'Good Look For You' comes out Friday (February 17).
The word multi-hyphenate is overused, but for soul sista Gavin Turek — who has been compared to everyone from Chaka Khan to Michael Jackson to Donna Summer in her prime — it fits. An actress, model, dancer and singer, Angeleno Turek started singing at the age of 3. Her sound is steeped in all things R&B, soul and jazz, and on her EP, Good Look for You, out on Friday (February 17), Turek embraces her disco roots as well. Her 5-song set would be just as at home at Studio 54 in the early 1980s as it is would be at an Electric Daisy Carnival set. Groovy, slinky, effervescent and funky, it perfectly encapsulates Turek’s energy and stage presence. She describes her music to people who haven't heard it before as “soulful, genuine, pop music with a splash of disco.”
Turek talks us about her sound, and how Myspace was instrumental in her collaboration with Tokimonsta! Hop to the next page to read the interview.
