'I See You' - The xx
While some bands rush into the studio right away, The xx took some time after Coexist to work on their own projects, as we've seen with each of the members collaborating with others or even DJ some cool party in London. And while five years is quite a long time for this UK indie trio to be away, I See You proves that it was a good decision.
If there was one thing that they've been known for on their past records was that there was some kind of mysterious side that made them look too shy for words onstage or in the public eye. However, from the moment you hear, "Dangerous," the LP's opening track, The xx are ready to make their presence known with danceable track that's grounded with a fun horn section. The energy continues with their second single, "Say Something Loving." And of course, there's the lead single, "On Hold," that reminded us why we loved them in the first place. But don't worry xx purists, there are tracks on the album that will remind you of the OG days. "Replica" and "A Violent Noise" may be more your speed.
