It's a wisful electropop song about a troubled young couple.
The Chainsmokers take it down a notch on “Paris,” the electro DJ duo’s new downbeat, nostalgic single released today (January 13).
Telling the tale of a difficult love affair, the single begins with mellow vocals from frontman Drew Taggart (“We were staying in Paris / To get away from your parents”) and a light backbeat. As the song progresses, their signature tropical beats do return — but it's definitely a less explosive song than their 2016 smash hit “Closer.”
Ahead of the single’s release, The Chainsmokers tweeted out their own definition of “Paris.”
