Pornography has 'corrosive effects on a man’s soul' Anderson writes in a WSJ op-ed.
Former Baywatch star and Playboy bunny Pamela Anderson wrote an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach about the dangers of porn. Anderson and Boteach criticize pornography and its “corrosive effects on a man’s soul and on his ability to function as husband and, by extension, as father,” citing disgraced former politician Anthony Weiner as evidence.
Anderson and Boteach pointedly reprimand Weiner and his “self-sabotaging sexting.” The sexting is, according to them, “an addictive danger of pornography.” According to a study by the American Psychological Association they cite, porn consumption rates are at 50-90% among men, and 30-86% among women. Anderson and Boteach call these findings “terrifying.”

Boteach and Anderson predict porn usage and addiction will only get worse through generations, calling children who grow up with sexualized images as the norm “the crack babies of porn.”
Rather than porn, Boteach and Anderson advocate for a “sensual revolution” which “would replace pornography with eroticism—the alloying of sex with love, of physicality with personality, of the body’s mechanics with imagination, of orgasmic release with binding relationships.”

In the end, Boteach and Anderson simply want an end to porn. They write, “Simply put, we must educate ourselves and our children to understand that porn is for losers—a boring, wasteful and dead-end outlet for people too lazy to reap the ample rewards of healthy sexuality.”
