Showbiz? They’re all in this together!

January marked the 10th anniversary of the original High School Musical movie. The breakthrough star of the Disney franchise, Zac Efron, was absent from the reunion event due to busy filming schedule. We can’t really blame him: he’s got four movies coming out this year, including Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates that hits the theaters July 8. Now’s a good time to remember all of the HSM alumni and see what they’ve been up to since 2008’s finale of the original film series. And in case you miss the joyful carefree musical, there’s a fourth installment coming out next year with a new cast.

Zac Efron

Zac Efron enjoyed the role of all-singing, all-dancing jock Troy a little too much, as over the years and countless gym sessions he got one of the most chiseled bodies in Hollywood. All that pumping gave a serious bump to his film career. He mostly stayed within the comedy genre: from Neighbors to That Awkward Moment. The inevitable Baywatch remake builds its whole promo campaign around Efron’s rock-hard abs. He did several serious films, too, like 2012’s drama The Paperboy. He’s shirtless in this one as well, don’t you worry.

Vanessa Hudgens

Hudgens got her bad girl street cred while she was still portraying savvy Gabriella Montez. Gone were the days of fluffy pop songs about sneakers and the era of leaked naked selfies officially began. She did eventually lose the "Most Outrageous Disney Girl Gone Bad" title to Miley Cyrus, but still got to unleash new neon-colored demons in Harmony Korine’s criminal teen dream of a movie called Spring Breakers alongside Selena Gomez. She promoted the movie by releasing a standalone single “$$$ex.” Hudgens will soon be seen as an insurance claim adjuster in DC Comics’ superheroes-free NBC series Powerless.

Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Tisdale aka the resident Queen B Sharpay Evans enjoyed her time at the High School Musical a little too much as she was the only one who got her own spin-off flick, 2011’s Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure. She’s also the only HSM cast member to have (well, who had) a proper music career, as she’s released two albums and keeps promising the next one since 2009. After starring in Hellcats series and Scary Movie 5, Tisdale turned to executive producing, working on shows like Miss Advised and Young & Hungry.

Lucas Grabeel

After finishing his duties as hat-addict Ryan Evans in HSM saga, Grabeel didn’t stop performing. He starred in iTunes rock musical show I Kisses a Vampire and then migrated to TV, popping up on shows like Smallville and Switched at Birth, where he currently portrays—you won’t believe it—an aspiring rocker. He also released an EP Sunshine back in 2011 and several standalone singles.

Corbin Blue

Blue used his HSM experience to the max, becoming an all-round entertainer. He released two music albums, starred in movies (Nurse 3D really was something!) on TV and joined the cast of Dancing With The Stars in 2013. It’s sad news for the fans of Chad Danforth: he just had his bachelor party in Vegas and is about to tie the knot with his fiancée, actress Sasha Clements. Fan fact: Lucas Grabeel was there, too.

Monique Coleman

Coleman played HSM resident feminist Taylor McKessie, and she has surely adopted some of her character’s traits. These days Coleman is busy promoting awareness of the problems the youth of today face as well as hosting her own empowering online talk show Gimme Mo’. Her social awareness doesn’t stop there: she also starred in 2014’s Free the Nipple indie drama.
