It features Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Kirk Franklin, T-Pain, Future and more.
Chance the Rapper has released his third full-length, Coloring Book, on Apple Music. The Chicago rapper picks up where he left off with his landmark verse in Kanye West's "Ultralight Beam," a song that belongs at church thanks to vocals by gospel veterans Kelly Price and Kirk Franklin.
But while devout followers can often be sanctimonious, Chance lives by one principle only: Love thy neighbor. That means that he teams with Justin Bieber. He brings together 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne, Young Thug and Lil Yachty—rappers who sometimes get pitted against one another. Chance reunites with Kirk, though in a song that also features T-Pain. He boasts of Apple releasing his last project, Donnie Trumpet's Surf, for free.
"I like to think of my music the same way because a lot of my stuff is about my ideal world, and how I want things to function," Chance says in a Complex cover story with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. "I have a daughter who’s going to be raised in this world, and my music and my art are powerful tools in getting that to be formed the way I want it to."
