At long last, Assassin's Creed is about ready to hit the big screen. But will this film adaptation meet fan expectations?

20th Century Fox premiered the debut Assassin's Creed trailer last night (May 11). This preview shows how the film, starring Michael Fassbender, shares the same basic premise as the video games. It also flaunts the practical effects, which adds to the sense that this series is coming to life.

Yet for some fans, Fox's decision to feature Kanye West's "I Am A God" ruins the whole effect. There is already a fan version that uses Woodkid's "Iron" from Assassin's Creed: Revelations. That is how high expectations are for this film.

Assassin's Creed premieres December 21.
