This is the latest development in the most bizarre social media beef from the past 24 hours.
Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska, says she will sue Azealia Banks for comments she made.
"[S]lavery wasn't forced on African-Americans, they accepted it willingly," Sarah "said," according to Newslo. That site is satirical. Unfortunately, Azealia thought that quote was real. On Twitter, she said that "the biggest burliest black negroes" should "run a train" on Sarah.
By that, Sarah thought that Azealia wished that she be sexually assaulted. Her Facebook response begins "Hey Female Rapper—listen up, little darling." But she later asks why they can't work together, whether to condemn racism or empower women. She has since had a change of heart.
"I've had enough of the unanswered threats and attacks against my family and me," Sarah tells PEOPLE. "So, for the first time I'm going to enjoy the only retribution that some protected 'celebrities' seem to understand—I'm suing Azealia Banks and can't wait to share my winnings with others who have gone defenseless against lies and dangerous attacks far too long."
To be fair, Azealia did apologize to Sarah in an open letter.
"Now since learning that the article was not published officially, I sincerely apologize for any emotional distress or reputational scarring I may have caused you," she says. "In my honest defense, I was completely kidding. I happen to have a really crass, New-York-City sense of humor, and regularly make silly jokes in attempts to make light of situations which make me uncomfortable.
"As the fabric of the American Nation is EMBEDDED with racism, I merely make a raCIALly driven joke to counter what I believed to be real, raCIST rhetoric."
