These fans say that they are tired of "middling results" from the 'Batman v Superman' director.

Nearly 5,000 DC Comics fans want Zack Snyder booted from directing the upcoming Justice League films.

They say they are tired of "middling results" like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which was panned critically for being overly grim—and mistaking grimness for depth. "Zack Snyder is just not the guy that should be in charge of the biggest and most important films in the franchise. Especially with his track record right now," the Change.org petition says.

Zack says that he wanted Batman v Superman to "transcend the superhero genre," citing graphic novelist Frank Miller and The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan as inspiration. "I look at it as more being mythological than, say, bubblegum," Zack said to The Daily Beast last year. "And I think that that’s appropriate for Batman and Superman because they’re the most mythological of our superheroes."

Shooting for Justice League: Part One kicks off April 11. Meanwhile, Batman v Superman just scored the biggest worldwide opening in box office history, with $424 million globally.
