They're also set to play free show in Cuba.
Major Lazer has been known for its visually stimulating videos. And the duo doesn't disappoint with its new visual for the "Light It Up" remix.
The video takes us to Ghana—Fuse ODG's home country, who's featured on the track along with Nyla—where we're immersed in the good, bad and ugly. While Major Lazer usually goes for a colorful clip, this one is done in black and white so we can focus on the action that's happening on the screen.
“Because Fuse’s family is from Ghana, we thought it would bring a really interesting aesthetic to film the video there," said director Sam Pilling."Delving deeper into Ghanaian culture, we found that their traditional funeral ceremonies perfectly exemplify this sense of coming together to rise up against sadness."
He also added, “The whole community joins together, first in mourning the death, then in celebrating the life that was lived. We worked closely with a Ghanaian family and village, meeting the elders and receiving their blessing to film a real funeral ceremony."
Aside from the new video, Major Lazer will be playing a special free show at Tribuna José Martí in front of the US Embassy in Havana, Cuba. This marks the first major American act to perform in the country since diplomacy was restored between the US and Cuba.
Not only will they perform, but Cuban music students and local DJs will also meet and perform with the group.
