She is the biggest star to speak out about Kesha's legal battle with Dr. Luke.
Adele is here for Kesha during her legal battle against Dr. Luke and Sony Records. Adele made that clear when she won British Female Solo Artist at the Brit Awards.
To come back after so long away and be so warmly received is really lovely, thank you so much. And to all the other girls that are nominated, thank you for letting me be in your company. You're all incredible, you're all amazing, and it's a privilege to be alongside you. I'd like to take a quick second just to thank my management and my record label for embracing the fact that I'm a woman and being encouraged by it. And I'd also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha.
Adele is only the latest high-profile pop star to support Kesha, after Lady Gaga, Kelly Clarkson, Lorde and Demi Lovato. Earlier this week, Taylor Swift donated $250,000 to Kesha to "help with any of her financial needs during this trying time."
However, not only is Adele the biggest star to back Kesha, but with 3.38 million copies of 25 sold during its first week alone, she is also Sony's biggest artist to do so.
Kesha was refused an injunction that would end her contract with Sony and Dr. Luke's Sony imprint Kemosabe Records after accusing Dr. Luke of sexual and verbal abuse. Prior to that, while Kesha said that her career would effectively be over if she cannot work with another producer or label, Sony argued in court documents that Adele, Justin Timberlake and D'Angelo still enjoyed success after taking long breaks.
