With Christmas only weeks away, we're sure you've been spinning your favorite Yultide tunes. And we have another one for your holiday playlist. Brothers Andrew and Stephen Oliver, better known onstage as Brother Oliver, have add their folk- and pysch-rock sounds to the classic carol, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel."
"The original song, 'O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,' has always caught [our] ear with its haunting, almost middle-eastern sounding melodies," the South Carolina band tells Myspace. "It has an ancient feel that stands alone in the world of happy-go-lucky Christmas music. We wanted to take that from the song and modernize it in a way that you can snap your fingers to, while still preserving the sort of hypnotic beauty in the subject matter."
