Tupac Shakur would hardly ever be categorized as rock and roll. However, the late rapper has been included in the 2017 class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. And with past years inducting Run-DMC, Beastie Boys and Public Enemy, Tupac will fit right in. Aside from their contributions to music, an act's first recording needs to be at least 25 years old to be considered.

The other inductess include Joan Baez, Journey, Pearl Jam, Yes and Electric Light Orchestra. Nile Rodgers of Chic will also be honored with an Award for Musical Excellence.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on April 7, 2017, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It will be filmed and aired on HBO at a later date.
