The remixed version of the classic song runs through the misfortunes of the year: from Harambe to Donald Trump.

It's not a stretch to feel like the end of the world came this year. Stephen Colbert and R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe agree. The duo (along with a cameo from James Franco) remade the R.E.M. hit "It's the End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" to reflect the difficulties of the year: beginning with the Zika outbreak and running through difficulties big (Donald Trump, North Carolina's "bathroom bill") and small (Ben Affleck as Batman).

Colbert took the reigns, singing the first half of the song. Midway through, Stipe refused to sing the end of the chorus ("...and I feel fine") because, well, the year hasn't exactly been fine. Stipe did eventually join in with Colbert and Franco for a rousing chorus.
