The Voice UK finalist put his stamp on The 1975's smash hit.
23-year-old British singer Jolan Gidney-Craigen (or simply Jolan) doesn’t take no for an answer. After being told to go home after his The Voice UK audition back in 2014, he didn’t give up on his dream of conquering the ears and hearts of the British public with music and came back this year, finishing second on the fifth season of the hit show.
Now that people are familiar with his voice, Jolan’s ready to show what kind of artist he wants to be with his new EP, Parallel. The album features covers of songs by The 1975, Beyoncé, Terence Trent D’Arby and Prince.
Today we’re premiering the video recording of Jolan performing his version of The 1975’s “Somebody Else.” “I chose 'Somebody Else' for the EP because it is such a brilliant, current song that people can relate to. I love The 1975's new album,” Jolan told us. “The whole EP is going down so well with everyone, and I'm so pleased people like it. It's had a far better reaction than I ever thought."
Watch the exclusive premiere of the performance below. (Fun fact: that's another popstar, Florrie, on the drums in the video.)
