“I tried wearing a hearing aid, but I heard more than I wanted to hear!”

While Sting doesn't let it stop him from giving a great performance, the English musician has admitted to losing his hearing over the years. And while he has worn a hearing aid, he's pretty much over the device.

“I’m fairly deaf. ‘What?’ is my favorite word,” he admitted to SiriusXM’s "Artist Confidential" on November 8.

He also added, "I tried wearing a hearing aid, but I heard more than I wanted to hear! People talk a lot of s—!"

Despite the hearing issue, Sting is ready and excited to share his latest effort, 57th & 9th, which releases on Friday (November 11).

Inspired by his walks in his New York City home, the record takes on the frenetic vibe of the Big Apple. "You could write a play just by listening to people’s phone conversations on the street in New York," he said. "The energy of New York gave [the album] an urgency."
