The band has reportedly signed to Columbia Records for a new album.

Beloved Afro-pop-inspired rockers Vampire Weekend may release new music next year. Reputable music industry insiders Hits Daily Double report that Vampire Weekend has signed to Columbia Records for a new record to come out midway through 2017 (via Stereogum).

The members have been involved in their own musical projects — frontman Ezra Koenig was even credited on Beyoncé's latest album — since Vampire Weekend's last record, Modern Vampires in the City from 2013. Multi-instrumentalist Rostam Batmanglij departed from the band this year, but he may not be gone for long.

In reply to a question about working with Vampire Weekend again, Batmanglij hinted yes. “I don’t want to make any announcements," said the musician to Rolling Stone. "I want some surprises for 2017."
