Look out for 'Murder Ballads' and its accompanying music later this year.
Z2 Comics has enlisted the Black Keys to record a comic books soundtrack, Vulture reports.
Murder Ballads, out this fall, is about a record label owner who leaves town, only to meet two black siblings who play some mean blues-rock. It's written by comics writer Gabe Soria, who happens to be friends with Black Keys singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach.
"The music that he was talking about seemed—well, I could wrap my mind around it," Dan tells Vulture. "He knew I was really big into northern Mississippi music, so I understood the reference points when he was talking to me about it.”
Murder Ballads isn't even the first time that Z2 has worked with a musician. That would be last year's animated short Welcome to Shortside, which featured Henry Rollins—watch below.
