Just don't blame it on the harness he used on stage.
For once on stage, Justin Bieber appeared shaky during the 2015 MTV VMAs. He performed Jack U's "Where Are U Now," followed by his new single "What Do You Mean," trying to find his footing throughout. What was more unexpected, though, was how he teared up once he finished. So last night on The Tonight Show, Justin explained what happened, even though host Jimmy Fallon tried to blame the incident on the harness he used on stage.
"The performance—I missed some cues, so I was a little disappointed," Justin said, adding, "I wasn't expecting them to support me the way that they did...The last time I was at an awards show, I was booed. I think it's just like, I worked so hard on this album. I worked so hard at just becoming the man I wanted to become. And then stepping into situations, you just can't help but feel judged. So I was feeling judged and, just, wanting to win so badly and just wanting to do what I love so badly, that I just put everything on the line."
Justin is referring to the 2013 Billboard Music Awards. He was announced as the winner of the Milestone Award, though when he took the stage, he had to pause for a minute because of the booing, "I'm 19 years old. I think I'm doing a pretty good job," he said. But his name was dominating headlines because of how he had attacked the paparazzi, was arrested for dangerous driving and assault and had egged a neighbor's home, among other incidents.
Clearly, though, Justin feels ready to be back in the spotlight. As he also announced on The Tonight Show, he drops his fourth album on November 13. Watch below.
