On July 27, three people in Lafayette, Louisiana were fatally shot during a Trainwreck screening. Star Amy Schumer was so shaken by the news that she entered the fight for tougher gun control. Today she and her cousin, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), announced a plan that would limit gun access to violent criminals and the mentally ill, while rewarding states that uphold these standards.
"These shootings have got to stop—I don't know how else to say it," Amy says. "Maybe the worst part about all this is that there is a common sense way to stop mass shootings. There are many ways." Watch the press conference below.
