"The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy."
Demi Moore released a statement Sunday responding to news that a 21-year-old man was found dead in the pool of her Los Angeles home over the weekend.
“I am in absolute shock. I was out of the country traveling to meet my daughters for a birthday celebration when I got the devastating news,” Moore said in a statement provided by Entertainment Weekly. “The loss of a child is an unthinkable tragedy and my heart goes out to this young man’s family and friends. I ask that you please respect the privacy of all concerned during this sensitive time.”
TMZ first reported the death early Sunday after a 911 call at 4:50am brought police and paramedics to Moore's house. CNN reported that neither Moore nor her daughters were home at the time, but questioned the five people present after a party had been held. The man, identified as Edenilson Steven Valle of Los Angeles, was pronounced dead at the scene, and other partygoers said he did not know how to swim. The death has been ruled an accident, but an investigation is still underway.
