After 14 seasons, Degrassi has been canceled. This summer will bring a two-week finale event, which will include an hour-long special airing July 20, followed by a new episode airing each day of the week. The grand finale will be televised July 31.
The Canadian teen drama first debuted in 2001, and introduced many rising teen celebrities like rapper Drake, Shenae Grimes, Nina Dobrev.
“For an incredible 14 seasons, Degrassi has been a groundbreaking show tackling so many important topics that real teens face in their everyday lives,” Keith Dawkins, SVP and general manager, Nicktoons, TeenNick and Nick Jr., shared with Variety. “In the final episodes on TeenNick and through the hour-long special and social activations, we hope to say good-bye in a way that is both fitting to the show and Degrassi’s passionate fan base.”
