Thursday night was huge for the Marvel franchise.

Now that Avengers: Age of Ultron is officially in theaters, let's just sit back and watch the squillions roll in. BoxOffice.com is reporting that the film has pulled in an estimated $27.6 million just from Thursday night screenings. Obviously, that's a lot but just to give you an idea: The original Avengers film earned $18.7 million durings its own Thursday night debut.

The site adds that Avengers: Age of Ultron's Thursday night earnings is the highest pre-Friday showing for a film since the second installment in the Twilight series ($30.4 million). The honor of the largest, most money-making preview night of all time is still Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows—Part 2, with $43.5 million.
