Eagerly anticipating Noel Gallagher's comment.
Uh, so, today in head-scratching news, One Direction member Liam Payne has indicated that the band will be taking their sound in a new, Britpop-inspired direction for their next album:
“The boys we’ve been writing with have come up with some great, great songs,” Liam Payne shared during an interview with Brit radio station Capital FM. “Kind of like, a bit Oasis-y, almost, which is ace. I love that!”
Payne also went onto describe their follow-up to 2014's FOUR as "a bit more chill," stating that "I think we want this to be quite a long-lasting album that you can listen to any time. Anytime you can thrown on an Ed [Sheeran] song and it can always make sense. We’re trying to do that.”
As for just when we'll hear this supposedly Oasis-y album, there's no solid date yet, although Capital FM reports that we'll definitely have it by the end of 2015.
"We're just so happy that this album's gone really well for us, and it's kind of given us a lift to go with music now somewhere else if we do happen to do another one," Payne said.
