"Chewie, we're home."
AHHHHHH.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy unveiled a brand new teaser for Episode VII at Star Wars Celebration Weekend in Anaheim, Calif. It's what fans slept overnight in the convention center halls for and it looks like it was worth their time.
In the trailer, we hear the disjointed voice of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker share that "The force is strong in my family, my father has it, I have it, my sister have it..." It's the conversation Luke has with his sister Leia in Return of the Jedi, but there's one mysterious additional line this time: "And you have the power, too.”
There are also lots of visual goodies in there, such as a Star Destroyer looming over the horizon, another look at that ball droid, Darth Vader's battered head gear and what looks to be a samurai-inspired Sith Lord costume. Best part of all though? A smiling Harrison Ford reappearing as the dashing Han Solo and telling his buddy Chewbacca that they're home. :') HAPPY TEARS, GUYS. WATCH BELOW. DO IT NOW.
Episode VII in the Star Wars Saga, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, opens in theaters December 18.
