Hm, could this be the precursor to Miles Morales?
He already has a superhero-sounding name—but could 21-year-old Brit actor Sam Strike be the next in line to play Spider-Man?
Strike, who may be best known for his role as Johnny Carter in BBC's EastEnders, has set off some whispers after revealing via Twitter (see below!) that he's landed a major US film... and that he's hitting the gym to prep for the movie.
Marvel is currently in the midst of casting the role of Spider-Man/Peter Parker for Captain America: Civil War, set for a 2016 premiere. Spidey's next solo film, meanwhile, is out 2017.
In February, The Wrap's Jeff Sneider very publicly speculated that he's "95% positive that Spider-Man is not going to be white," with lots of talk of Miles Morales (the Black Hispanic Brooklyn teen who dons the Spider-Man costume after Peter Parker's death in the comics) taking over the webs if we see the death of Parker in Captain America: Civil War. We'll see!
