Warner Bros. has unveiled the first two images from the CBS series Supergirl. Take a look below at Melissa Benoist as Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-El... also known as Supergirl.

Supergirl boasts a cast filled with faces and names you'd probably recognize: The Flash and Arrow producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg are producing the pilot. Chyler Leigh (Grey's Anatomy) will appear as Kara's foster sister Alex, while David Harewood (Homeland) will be the Department of Extra-Normal Operations director. Mehcad Brooks (Desperate Housewives) plays Jimmy Olsen and Calista Flockheart (Ally McBeal) is Kara's boss Cat Grant.

So, what's the story here? Supergirl was born on the planet Krypton just like our bud Superman. And just like Superman, she managed to escape its destruction and landed on earth. She's managed to hide her special powers for her whole life, but now that she's 24-years-old, she's ready to make use of her gifts and greet her destiny. Just like Superman. But you know, not.  

Production for Supergirl began two days ago. The show has a full series commitment from CBS.
