During his keynote speech at SXSW, the rapper announced his next big plans for television.

Snoop Dogg is hard at work expanding his television empire. His reality show, Snoop & Son: A Dad's Dream, followed Snoop and his then-17-year-old son as he transition from high school football star to the big leagues.

Now, during his keynote speech at this year's SXSW, Snoop announced that he's working with director Allen Hughes to executive produce a drama on 1980s-era Los Angeles, Calif.—or, more specifically, the aftermath of Reaganomics on the region and its inhabitants. Snoop was famously born and raised in Long Beach, Calif., some 24-miles away from LA.

“HBO is the number one network in the world as far as developing and having these types of shows come to life,” Snoop shared during his SXSW Q&A session with manager Ted Chung. “This is a dream come true to be able to tell a story that’s going to be told the right way on the right network.”
