Based in the southern Italian town of Palmi, Apoteosi arose in 1975, a short-lived quintet formed by vocalist Silvano Ida and her brothers Massimo Ida (keyboards) and Federico Ida (bass).
Joined by guitarist Franco Vinci and drummer Marcello Surace, Apoteosi specialized in an extremely sophisticated sound, similar to period Renaissance - a comparison that Silvano Ida's striking vocals only strenghened. Signing to the local Said label, the group recorded a self-titled album for release that same year. But, though it was certainly well-received on the prog circuit, it failed to reach a larger audience and Apoteosi disappeared from view. The album has since (1993) been reissued by Mellow. ~ Dave Thompson
