Born in Brighton, England but based in Berlin, Antoni Maiovvi is an electronic musician and composer who co-founded a label called Giallo Disco in 2012.
True to his label's name, Maiovvi's music pays tribute to horror movie soundtracks as well as Italo-disco, although his music is significantly more dancefloor-centric than some of his contemporaries. Maiovvi made his debut in late 2008 with the limited CD Electro Muscle Cult, followed in 2009 by Shadow of the Bloodstained Kiss. Both were issued by Posthuman's label Seed Records. Caravan Records released his full-length The Thorns of Love in 2010, and Fright Records issued his Zulawski EP. In 2011, Maiovvi's The Divine Invasion EP was released by Sauroid, and double-CD Battlestar Transreplica/Trial by Bullet appeared on Seed.
Maiovvi and Vercetti Technicolor co-founded Giallo Disco in 2012, and their split EP Black Gloves was the label's first release, followed by Maiovvi's Stockholm Synthdrone. The label quickly racked up dozens of releases over the next few years while Maiovvi released EPs on several other labels, including Magic Feet, Bordello A Parigi, and Flight Recorder. Maiovvi's soundtrack to the short film Yellow was released by Death Waltz for Record Store Day in 2013. The label also released The Hook & Pull Gang, a double-LP of Maiovvi and Umberto's alternate score to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, in 2014. Los Angeles label Not Not Fun released Maiovvi's LP Avrokosm in early 2015. Later that year, The Hook & Pull Gang was edited and given a wider release as Law Unit. Maiovvi also released a split EP with the Slasher Film Festival Strategy on the Foreign Sounds label. Several more Maiovvi EPs and singles appeared throughout 2015 and 2016, including Seasons in Hell on Castles in Space and Will to Powder on Schrödinger's Box. ~ Paul Simpson
