1225 Music Group was once a vision in the eyes of a young music enthusiast, Andre “ Mr. 1225” Harris.
Dre is no stranger to the music industry. Born December 25, in Atlanta Georgia, Dre quickly showed interest in the music industry. As a young boy growing up in the Kirkwood area of Atlanta, Dre was introduced to all genre of music by his uncle who was a DJ at that time.
As a teenager, Dre purchased his first rap album, which happened to be Run DMC. This purchase led to a strong passion for the music industry especially the Rap genre. Upon graduation of high school, Dre decided he wanted to be an entrepreneur. He was inspired to take this path as he had seen his step-father successfully start several different businesses from the ground level. He went on to achieve an Associates Degree, in Business Management, in 1997. During the same time, he began working for Finish Line at the local mall. He quickly became a store manager and spent 15 years as management with Finish Line, Inc. He uses what he has learned as a store manager as a strong foundation to running a successful business.
Dre has been influenced by people within the music industry as well as those who are successful in Cooperate America. Some of the influential people within music industry include, but not limited to, Run DMC, NWA, Boogie Down Productions, DEVO, Curtis Blow, Notorious B.I.G, and 8Ball MJG. The business figures that have been influential include, but not limited to, Russell Simmons, Bill Gates, and Allen Cohen, founder of Finish Line, Inc.
Dre was always pursuing his vision of owning his own entertainment company. In 1997, he landed an internship at the hip-hop radio station, V103, of Atlanta. He received this opportunity from friend Jaycee, who was the DJ of the Greg Street show at the time. During his internship, Dre had the opportunity to be a part of a ground breaking hip-hop show along side of Jaycee, who is now the DJ for Ludacris, of Disturbing The Peace.
Dre grew up in the same neighborhood as Russell Block Spencer, founder of Block Entertainment, as well as President of Bad Boy South. A common interest quickly formed a friendship. Dre has witnessed the drive and determination needed to develop a successful record label, as he witnessed the formation of Block Entertainment.
Along with two partners, Dre then started Undisputed Management. In 2001, Undisputed Management signed the first group to Fat Boy Records of Atlanta. During that time Dre met Tamario Bohannon aka RENEGADE. In 2003, Dre left Undisputed Management to start Slummed Out Entertainment with artist Tamario Bohannon.
After 5 years and working with several artists, Andre then stepped down as CEO and Owner of Slummed Out Entertainment. In November 2009, Andre started 1225 Music Group, LLC. After knowing T-Dub for several years and running into him at different studios in Atlanta, Andre decided to bring him onboard as the first artist of 1225 Music Group.
On September 19, 2011, Andre announced the Release of T-Dub’s mixtape NO BILLS UNDER A DUB with features from fellow 1225 Music Group artist C da G as well as other artists.
