You could say that my love of music began at an early age.
I was born in Washington DC in 1989 to a Cuban father and Creole mother. They exposed me to a vast array of music and culture as far back as I can remember. I had a fantastic childhood filled with memories of early ‘90s dance music reverberating throughout the house as my mom would play songs like “Show Me Love” all through the day. It was from those early experiences that my sense of rhythm was born.
While in preschool I met my best friend. We still hang out, and to this day she always keeps me grounded. I attended private school until 8th grade and my world view was further broadened when I made the transition to public high school. I found I was able to adapt to the environment quickly. It was during these transformative years that it happened…The year was 1999 and “Sandstorm” by Darude was released. I was immediately entranced by the sounds I was hearing. I knew then that this was what I wanted to do with my life and began experimenting with sound design. By the age of 15 I was practicing and studying the craft I so loved.
In college I took courses in electronic music. I developed a reputation for being the best and showing the most potential in regard to sound design. I enjoy learning about EDM but ultimately, so much of what makes it amazing is the feeling behind it, and that can’t be taught. Acts like Kaskade, Tiesto, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 and Above & Beyond have provided me with as much education as any course can. While I have not won any awards, my ultimate goal is to one day have my music contribute to an amazing vibe at the Electric Daisy Carnival. To have so many people all sharing that moment and feeling would mean more than any award ever could.
