Born in Venice, Italy, I was introduced to music by myparents and relatives who were playing a blend of classical music and jazz albums constantly in the house, car etcStarted playing piano at age 9, drums at 11 and, finally, guitar at 13.
At first it was classical guitar but then, thanks to a young house keeper who was a rocknroll fan and sneaked hendrix, zeppelin and deep purple albums in the house I got hooked on the energy that was pouring out of the speakers.

I started my first band in high school when I was 16, it was a weird combination of progressive and avant garde jazz, then the first Van Halen album came out and suddenly it felt possible to combine the extreme musicality of Allan Holdsworth and John McLaughlin with the raw energy that only rocknroll can deliver. After a brief stay of a few months in London, UK, where I jammed with a bunch of up and coming acts of the NWOBHM scene I returned to Venice to form DARK LORD.

DARK LORD was a quartet that also included another friend, Sandro Bertoldini, on the drums who was already known locally as an absolute monster on the drumset. The music that we made with Dark Lord was a combination of our rock jazz influences mixed with super heavy riffs and gothic melodies.

DARK LORD played all over Italy and got to open for International acts gaining a good amount of popularity at the time.

Then I got a call from a label based in Los Angeles (Metal Blade) that invited me to join a band (Sound Barrier) in order to play shows and record an album. I moved to LA. Played many shows with SB and eventually the label suggested a name change (not my idea) and the band got renamed MASI.

We recorded the first MASI album, FIRE IN THE RAIN, which got rave reviews all over the world in magazines etc and the song FIRE IN THE RAIN received massive airplay all over the US.

The second album DOWNTOWN DREAMERS featured a new line up and the song GOD PROMISED A PARADISE with its relative video was on heavy rotation on MTV. Then my first solo album was released"ATTACK OF THE NEON SHARK" which featured my all time hero Allan Holdsworth, the album received a Grammy nomination. Several other albums followed, both as MASI and as solo artist, ETERNAL STRUGGLE, by MASI is probably my very best rock vocal album with incredible performances from Kyle MIchaels (vox) and Paul Marangoni on drums. IN THE NAME OF BACH was the first of the trilogy dedicated to my fave classical composers. Al three albums were hailed worldwide by critics and fans, A live and studio collaboration with drums great John Macaluso and bass monster Randy Coven is also worth mentioning (MCM) with its two albums "Ritual Factory" and "1900 Hard Times" which was recorded live, this was intense instrumental music mainly improvised. Another solo album that's very dear to me is "Late night at Desert Rimrock" a collaboration between myself and John Macaluso on the drums, the result is improvised music that appears to be composed.

My most recent work dabbles with electronica and heavy grooves, the two albums "Theory of Everything" and "Danger Zone" have me playing all the instruments and programming the grooves. The guitar is still the main focus but it's immersed in a brand new context that gives it a fresher feel.

Also worth mentioning is my collaboration with several Indian and Pakistani musicians both live and in the studio as the music from those regions has always captured my imagination and my spirit.

I'm currently planning a new rock vocal album project (after a long time) and more instrumental productions.
