Known for his clever wordplay and wistful love songs, singer/songwriter Alex Beaupain is a star in his native France and has often worked with one of that country's more daring filmmakers, Christophe Honoré.
The two began working together in 2002 on the film 17 Fois Cécile Cassard. Beaupain provided the soundtrack, which featured one song he'd composed for singer Lily Margot. Beaupain and Margot would also work together on the 2003 film Qui a Tué Bambi directed by Gilles Marchand. In 2005, Beaupain released his own album, Garcon D'Honneur, which reflected his love of French singers like Serge Gainsbourg and Etienne Daho along with '80s alternative rock acts like the Smiths. He would work with Honoré in 2006 on the film Dans Paris and again in 2007 for the full-blown musical Les Chansons D'Amour. ~ David Jeffries
