In Houston, TX, in 1995, Armando (lead vocals, bajo sexton), Junior (drums), and Carlos Gracia (congas), children of Juvenal Gracia, came together to form a band they would call Grupo Gracia.
Over the next two years the group would take on two new members, Ivan Rodriguez (backing vocals and accordion) and Hector Campos (electric bass), taking first place in a local battle of the bands. Their victory offered them the opportunities to take their material into the studio. In 1998, thanks to their recently recorded demo, the group was able to secure good representation (SERCA), and in doing so took the name Grupo Alazzan. Recording their first production in 1999, entitled Con Ella, Grupo Alazzan began creating a new sound, something that would stand out in the norteno genre. Touring with other groups under SERCA management, Alazzan discovered some inroads to working with Freddie Records, under the direction of veteran musician/producer Freddie Martinez. The first release on their new label, Te Amo was released in 2000. In the latter months of 2001, the group took to the studio to begin work on their third production, Para Siempre Contigo, which was completed and released two years later. Gritandole al Viento followed in 2004. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez
