Italian concrete-rock experimental unit Starfuckers was formed in 1987 by vocalist Manuele Giannini, guitarists Gianni Ginesi and Gianfranco Verdaschi, bassist Paolo Casini and drummer Roberto Bertacchini.
Assembling fractured, abstractly minimal industrial collages which detonate rock structures into their most elemental sonic components, Starfuckers issued their debut LP Metallic Diseases on the Electric Eye label in 1990; Casini left the group soon after, and with the addition of Alessandro Bocci, the Starfuckers began moving into electronic terrain with the 1991 follow-up, Brodo di Cagne Strategico. Guitarist/bassist Mauro Rigoni replaced Verdaschi around the time of 1994's Sinistri; a seven-inch, "Ordine," soon became the band's first American release, appearing on the Drunken Fish label. By the time of 1997's Infrantumi, the Starfuckers lineup was reduced to the core trio of Giannini, Bocci and Bertacchini. ~ Jason Ankeny
