As well as rocking it up as a member of L.A. punk group Rapid Youth, Von Sydow started making intimate bedroom recordings at age 19. Like similar-minded artists Wavves and Dum Dum Girls, he quickly earned a reputation by way of the internet, with a fair share of bloggers picking up on his similarities to Roy Orbison due to his rustic slapback style, Nashville guitar picking, and doo wop vocals. Working primarily with cassettes, he released the Interracial Coupling EP in 2009, which was later released on CD by Family Time Records. He made plans to follow it up with a tape-only release on Hi Shadow in 2010. ~ Jason Lymangrover
